We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. Did you apply some effect with photoshop first and then vectorized???
if not maybe u could tell us! hehe
No Photoshop used on this one (or the others in this style that I do). I basically find a photo I want to use for reference and place it in the Illustrator document. With the pen tool I draw the basic shape of the head/hair/neck and give them all one flat color. Then partly using the photo as a visual guide, and partly using my best judgement, I draw the shapes of each shadow/contour and color them accordingly. It's pretty simple but I love the effect!
